(Physocarpus opulifolius Center Glow® PP16894) New leaves are glowing rose with bright gold bases, mature leaves are rich burgundy red, and fall color is blazing scarlet! Add clusters of nectar-rich flowers in early summer and bright red fruit in early fall, and you have a gorgeous shrub that draws numerous Butterflies, Hummingbirds and songbirds. Makes a cascading hedge or specimen, takes pruning well (cut back in late winter or after bloom), and can be relied on despite drought, wetness, even poor clay or rocky soils!
