(Wisteria frutescens 'Longwood Purple') This native wisteria is from the famed Longwood Gardens, was selected for its bushy growth and the unusual deep purple of its 6" flower clusters. Not invasive like Oriental wisterias, and much later and longer-blooming, with a big flush in early summer and repeat blooms through fall. It provides nest sites, nectar for hummingbirds and seeds in fall and winter for songbirds. Prune in late spring to increase flowering.
