Major Wheeler HoneysuckleDraws the first hummingbirds of the season!
Write a review
(Lonicera semperivirens 'Major Wheeler') An extra-long-blooming variety of the native coral honeysuckle, Major Wheeler blooms heavily from spring on into summer. Blooms more generously, too! Bloom form and color really attract hummingbirds, while the red berries are relished by bluebirds, goldfinches and robins. Grow this carefree, non-invasive vine on a fence or porch post where you can enjoy your winged visitors.
Zones 4-8, 6′ tall, sun/part shade, 3" pot.

amazing growth 2nd year Review by alice devine - medford lakes, NJ

Looks like it needed a year to establish. 3 plants took off in year2 & was popular w/hummers; already leafing out this year (3/2013). Hoping for more blooms--which would merit 5 stars next year.

These vines need about three years to really take off. I've had mine for that long and they are overgrowing the trellis, upward and outward. Beautiful and in the winter months the sparrows like to hang out in the vines.

The hummingbirds that hangout in our yard love this honeysuckle. I have them on several trellises in the front and backyards because there is so much competition for the nectar.
