Ruby Slippers Oakleaf Hydrangea - 4" pot
Exclusive!(Hydrangea quercifolia 'Ruby Slippers') Just released from the National Arboretum, this new dwarf Oak leaf Hydrangea has a wealth of great characteristics! It forms a small, dense bush because of its short internodes (the distance between leaves on the stems), but there's nothing dwarf about the blooms—they average an impressive 9 inches long, and they do not flop as many large-flowered Hydrangeas do, because their stems are unusually strong. The blooms open white, then quickly turn pink and deepen to a gorgeous rose red that lasts all summer, not just a short time before fall. And this is one of the easiest of all Hydrangeas to grow, impervious to heat and drought, thriving in sun or shade, and even poor soil, as long as it is well drained. Songbirds welcome the seeds in fall and winter, and the dense habit provides good coverage for birds like Cardinals that like low-growing, thick plants.
Zones 5-8, 3.5' tall, 5' wide, sun/ shade, 4" pot.
