Stately Bat House
This large-capacity bat house will house numerous beneficial bats – and each
brown bat can consume 600 mosquitoes, as well as corn borers and cutworm
moths, all in one night! Beautifully crafted out of long-lasting cedar, the
house has a grooved interior and landing plate for easy gripping by the bats,
and a pre-drilled hole for easy mounting. A vent across the front provides
air circulation. Install in spring, several weeks before the bats return for the
summer. Place the house 12' – 15' high on a pole, or under the eaves of a
building, preferably facing south so it receives sun most of the day. A bat
house located on the side of a building or on a pole will be occupied faster
and at a higher rate than one on a tree. So guano doesn't become a problem,
avoid windows, doors, decks or walkways. Finally, be patient – it may take a
while for bats to find your house. 21 1/4"H x 14 1/4"W x 3"D.
