Heated ground birdbath

I was exciting about getting this because I had a small pond which was a lot of work and thought this would be a good replacement. It works well, except since it is not very deep, it needs to be filled just about every other day. Today I noticed the water was gone and I put more water in and it steamed up, so that meant the heater was working. I'm just concerned that it may be unsafe if the heater is in operation and the pond is empty. Other than that, it is very convenient and the birds seems to like it.

Birds Love It

This water source proved to be a success for the birds this winter. They loved it. I even saw a squirrel drinking from it one day. I'll probably keep it up this Spring, just by removing the electric cord. I really felt good about having it when it was freezing and below. That's when I noticed them on it, big time. Our feathered friends need all the help we can give them, since we're destroying the rest of their environment.

This product is one of my favorites. It is a draw not only for the many birds that visit my yard but also my cottontails, squirrels and chippy. I have had all the above drop by for drinks or bathing all at once. It is a joy to watch them while water becomes scare in this snowy, cold Montana environment. Highly recommended for its quality. Not popular with birds

Comments:
I have fed birds for years and normally in winter I put a large pot saucer on my back deck with water for the birds and in very cold weather put warm water out daily. Last winter I bought this bird bath and set it up on concrete blocks on my back deck so that I could plug it in when weather was freezing. The water was all gone by morning every day. I unplugged it finally and just filled it with water but the birds would not use it as they did the pot saucer in the past. Not sure why unless they tried it while it was plugged in and it burned their feet. It was placed right on the outside edge of deck like the saucers always were but no feathers or droppings as usual plus seldom had to add water so know it wasn't used. Big disappointment.
